S95 Register
By default S95=0 gives the computer-modem (DTE) connect speed. So
whatever speed (19,200 38,400 57,600) you have set, the modem will
respond in kind, even if the modem-modem connect is 2400. S95=1 will give
true modem-modem connect speed (DCE), ie; a 2400 CARRIER will say CONNECT
2400. S95=2 will add /Arq to default for error correction conections, ie;
CONNECT 19,200/Arq. S95=3 will give modem connect speed with /Arq ie;
CONNECT 2400/Arq. If your software recognizes /Arq it may be a good idea to
add it, via the S95 register.
>>>NOTE: When the modem gives DTE (computer-modem) connect speed, if your
software shows 'efficiency' of transfer, it will be LOW. If the modem sends
CARRIER (DCE) as connect speed, then 'shown' efficiency should approach
100%.
If you want the Carrier, Protocol & Compression, with DTE then use
S95=44. To get the same with DCE speed, use S95=45. You can add 2 to either
(46 or 47) which will add the /ARQ, but as you already have the other
messages it is redundant.
The default S36=7 enables buffering so that the modem-computer speed
may differ from the modem-modem speed.
>>NOTE<< Except for QMODEM, all the sofware I have seen does NOT show any
results beyond CONNECT xxx/ARQ. You can see the results if you do
ATDTphoneumber in Terminal mode.
